About the Runes
I created this runic system after falling down a rabbit hole on the history of runes in the UK. It’s not much of a stretch to guess what the next move was after that. So that's what I did, I spent the last couple months of 2024, collating together a runic writing system for my dialect of English. I pulled from many sources but mainly from Anglo-Saxon Futhoc, with a couple Younger Futhark and Medieval Runes sprinkled in for those missing sounds. The system is phonemic, so each rune stands for a unique phoneme. Currently, it’s mapped out to my dialect but I intend on expanding it further and creating a system for helping people map the runes to their own personal dialects of English.
For now, this website serves as a repository for the system and includes; a dictionary, a reference, a post board for community contributions, and a functioning runic keyboard :) I plan on adding games later on as I get better at coding JavaScript. Although if anyone is willing to help 👀
